Packing fragile items in corrugated mailer boxes requires careful handling to prevent damage during transit. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure your items arrive safely:
Choose the Right Mailer Boxes. Use a new, sturdy corrugated mailer box—single or double-wall for heavier items. Ensure the box is slightly larger than the item to accommodate padding.
Wrap Each Fragile Item Individually. Use bubble wrap, at least 2 inches of padding, or foam sheets. For extra protection, wrap glass, ceramics, or electronics in kraft paper before bubble wrap. Seal wrapped items with packing tape to prevent shifting.
Use Proper Cushioning Materials. Fill the bottom of the box with packing peanuts, crumpled paper, or air pillows. Place the wrapped item in the centre, avoiding contact with the box walls. Fill all empty spaces with more cushioning to prevent movement.
Reinforce the Box. Seal the box with strong packing tape, H-taping method: tape along seams and edges. Add fragile labels on all sides to alert handlers. For heavy items, use reinforced corner protectors or double-boxing. Place the inner box in a larger box with padding.
Test the Package. Shake the mailer boxes gently—if you hear movement, add more cushioning. Ensure the box doesn’t bulge or feel too heavy for its size.
